Welcome to Kalidore!

The Unicorns of Kalidore are an ancient and mystical race, the children of Kala & Kaëdon. They were born in the early hours of the universe, long before our time, and the world they inhabit is a vast and beautiful paradise. They found themselves a home on the Isle of Kalidore, a misty island surrounded by temperate seas; it is here where Stallions watch over their domain, where Mares frolic through the lush wilderness with foals in toe, and where the signing skies of yesteryear still echo in the ethereal breeze.

The Unicorns love knowledge and adventure, and have found a kindred spirit among our own kind. Through the adoption process, a lucky human may bond with a unicorn, become her companion and confident, welcome new foals into the world, and share life's experience together. Being a Companion to a Unicorn is a honoured duty, greatly respected and revered; such a person is likely to be strong of heart and wise, but with a sense of fun and takes delight in life's mysterious - much like a unicorn herself!

Because of the many young people who attend Pony Island and visit Kalidore, this site is rate G - Good for Everyone. Please keep that in mind when posting in the forums or interacting with other breeders. Pestering or flaming messages are not allowed, and may cause one's expulsion from the isle. The bottom line, Be Nice and Have Fun; we hope everyone will enjoy themselves while you're here!

What are the Unicorns of Kaldiore Adoptables?
The Unicorns of Kalidore are a typical three-stage breeding adoptable; this means the adoptable has three forms - newborn, weanling, and adult, and that you can "breed" your adoptable to have babies! They are hosted by the Gaurdians of Kalidore and are run through Pony Island (though not affiliated with; all original artwork is copyright Neena Bickram 2008). While you do not need to be a member of PI to own this adoptable, it sure helps, as all announcement and events will be held in those forums!

How do I get a Unicorn?
Unicorns may be purchased only through official Kalidore Adoptable Events. The currency used is PG (PI Pony Gold), BP (PI Bonus Points). USD (US Dollars) will be added at some point in the near future.

What is the Adoption Fee?
Currently unicorns can be purchased in two ways: at auction, and through Flatsales. The flatsale price is 60K PG, if you are lucky enough to catch one! Auction prices have ranged between 200K and 8m PG, and $12 and $50 USD.

Can I modify my adoptable?
No. The only exception made is for use in your own personal avatar or signature; in such cases the adoptable used must be one you own (no using other people's unicorns!), you are permitted to crop the image to size, and all such items must link back to the Unicorns of Kalidore Website. Any other kind of modification MUST be approved by a Kalidore Guardian.

Can I sell my adoptable or give it to someone else?
In the future there will be official "Pony Penning" days, when adoptables may be sold/traded through official Kalidore events. A Unicorn may be gifted before it is certed.

How do I breed my Unicorn?
During the Breeding Seasons you may select a mate for your mare, use special items to enhance your foal if you wish (though it's not necessary), then wait for the special day to arrive! Please note that Foundation Mares come with one free breeding credit; additional breeding require a fee.

Where do I get Special Items?
Special Breeding items - the Stones, or jewels - are given out through organized Kalidore events, and a few will also be made available for purchase prior to a scheduled breeding season.

What kind of foal will I have?
Mother Nature likes surprises, and it's no different on Kalidore - though one can bet it's going to be a cutie! For in-depth information about Unicorn foals, please check out "Awaiting Unicorns - What to Expect for your Unicorn Foal". This is an invaluable guide and a must-read for all new breeders. The "pose" of the adult unicorn is chosen randomly. There are currently five different poses available - Prancing Mare, Watchful Mare, Trotting Mare, Attentive Mare, and the Graceful Mare.

Can I have a custom-made unicorn designed just for me?
Custom Unicorns are very special and very rare, and are only offered at certain Kalidore Events. Keep your eyes peeled, and you may be lucky enough to get one!

I don't want my unicorn any more. Now what?
As stated before, you cannot privately sell or trade your unicorn adoptable. Unicorns that are no longer wanted may be donated back to the Isle of Kalidore, or sold in an official Pony Penning Event. Pony Penning Events are open to both Foundation Mares and home-bred Unicorns.

What happens if someone breaks the rules?
Failure to follow the rule may result in a suspension from participating in Kalidore events, or if the offense is serious enough, could result in loss of your adoptable and ban from the site. Serious offenses would be:

Do not post on the public forums as this will only inflame the situation, which may or may not be accurately represented.
