The Gathering Time

Seasons change and seasons blow across the Isle of Kalidore, and when the waning season of the year has found the Unicorns gathered on the high tableland overlooking Muse Lake, it is now the time for looking forward: a time for new hopes, new dreams, and new lives to be born.

The Gathering Time is when Unicorns come from all corners of Kalidore come to reunite with friends and family, celebrate the passing year with much festivities, and begin to prepare for next season's foals. It is the one time of year when the Great Stallions leave their domains to exchange news with their brothers from afar. Mares, of course, are always free to come and go as they choose, often wandering in and out the ranges of different stallions; some mares prefer to stay with one stallion their life through, while others are more nomadic at heart. At this time of year, a Mare is particularly choosy about where she decides to go next; after all, the Gathering Time is foremost a time for choosing a new foal's proud lineage.

The Legend of the Stones ~

 The Celestial Stones were gifts from Kaëdon to Kal, as an expression of his love. To this day, unicorns still where stones to symbolize that eternal bond. During the Gathering Time, Stones have extra value and meaning: they can enhance the expectant foal in many wonderful ways!

~ Star Stones ~

These are very ancient stones, dust born of first hours of universe, and as such thier effect is very powerful and lasting. Unicorns who wear these stones shall inherit their strengths and abilities and pass them on to their foal, generation after generation. While subsequent foals may not "breed true" every time, once the genetic marker is present, it is possible for a foal to be born showing the stone's full potential many, many generations later!

As they remain quite rare, not all properties of these stone have been revealed; more information will be added as it is discovered.

 The Gypsy Stone ~
 Properties: pinto tobiano
 - produces the flashy & festive "tobiano" pattern

 Silverfade Stone ~
 Properties: roaning effect
 - produces a roan coat

~ Wind Stones ~

These stones were blown from dust afar, and impart on the mares who wear them a special boon for their foal. They are some of the most unique and different of the stone types, and can be used by all mares. Some truly wonderful things can happen when a Wind Stone is used!

 Passion's Flame Stone ~
 Properties: love potion
  - to breed your mare out of season
   (so long as she is not with foal)

 Twining Stone ~
 Properties: a gift of twins
  - your mare will give birth to twins

 SunStone ~
 Properties: promises male offspring
  - to create your own little Unikoros
   

 Kal's Blessing ~
 Properties: fixes traits
  - allows any visible traits to be passed on

 Pebble of Youth ~
 Properties: forever young
  - keep your kore young always
   

 Probability Stone ~
 Properties: gambler's choice
  - a chance to predict your foal's outcome

~ Stones of the Earth ~

The stones born of Kalidore are a wondrous objects of beauty and delight. While their effect is not lasting (there is no genetic effect with earthen stones) they will however grant a mare's foal a most unique and special inheritance.

More stones will be added as they are discovered!

 Imperial Blue Stone ~
 Properties: blue infusion
 - produces all shades of blue on all patterns

 Pale Amber Stone ~
 Properties: champagne dilution
  - creates the "champagne" effect on all patterns

 MoonStone ~
 Properties: shining rainbow
 - creates a dazzling yet subtle rainbow affect

 Celestial Stone ~
 Properties: starfields
  - creates a starfield or celestial effect on the coat

 Mottle Stone ~
 Properties: patterned mottling
 - spotted pattern, like "cat spots"

 Brindle Stone ~
 Properties: brindle and striping
 - produces both zebra and brindling

 Starburst Stone ~
 Properties: star dappling
 - covers a unicorn is star-shaped dapples

 Aurora Stone ~
 Properties: Aurora Borealis
 - creates a darkly beautiful aurora display
